Workshop on cling peaches in Freskon 2026

The workshop on cling peaches (Saturday, April 26) comes at a pivotal time, as the product is once again at the center of developments, both in domestic production and in the international processing market. Producers, cooperatives, traders, processing industry representatives, and institutional stakeholders come together for a meaningful dialogue on the course, challenges, and prospects of the sector.

Key speakers include Kostas Apostolou, President of the E.K.E., and Apostolis Loukanopoulos, President of the Meliki Agricultural Cooperative, who will outline the current developments in the clingstone peach sector, addressing critical issues such as price trends, production costs, raw material quality, the competitiveness of Greek processing, and conditions in key export markets.

Particular emphasis will be placed on the crucial question currently facing the sector: whether and to what extent the cultivation of industrial peaches should be further expanded, in relation to the sustainability of farming operations and the long-term development strategy of the industry.

The workshop aims to serve as a reference point for the sector, functioning as a platform for the exchange of views and experiences at a time of increased pressure and uncertainty. It is an event that offers reliable insight and meaningful reflection on the present and future of the clingstone peach sector in Greece.
